My First Hot Air Balloon Ride

This past weekend, Sae and I went on our first hot air balloon ride. I bought this voucher for us to go as a Valentines Day gift but we never got around to redeeming them until recently.

The one thing I never really thought about was how quiet it would be. Hot air balloons rides are really peaceful and you can hear everything you’re seeing. If I was ever up that high up in the sky I was most likely on a plane. But on a plane your ears are constantly plugged up and the engine is really noisy. So it’s just straight-up nonsense for your ears. I’ve never been skydiving or hang gliding before, but I’d imagine that those experiences are pretty noisy as well. But since the balloon moves with the wind, you could be going 5 mph or 60 mph and in both instances the air would seem still. I mean, if there was a tornado, then forget it, you’ll probably feel that. But you’d never launch on a day with lousy weather anyway…and woe is you if a tornado decides to appear on a perfectly clear day and you’re in a hot air balloon.

This is the balloon we were in. We weren’t in it in this photo, though.

I sent this video clip to my family and some of them thought I was getting engaged. But nope. Sorry, just a balloon ride!

Here’s another clip from the sky. Lots of land. Lots of nice houses.
